Snapshots from my personal sketchbook. A friend of mine works on a farm and posts the most beautiful (and dare I say, delicious) photographs from her harvests throughout the year. I reached out and asked if I could use them for some still life studies to improve my technique and challenge myself, and I am so lucky and grateful that she said yes! These have been so much fun to work on in my spare time between various projects.

Working on these brings me back to various art classes I’ve taken in the past. I think I enjoy the challenge of trying to capture the light and specific textures of each photograph with such a loose and fluid medium like watercolor (it certainly helps when I’m painting a subject as appetizing as potatoes!). I’m looking forward to working on more pieces in the future!
