I was asked to create this very special commission piece in honor of the client’s friend who recently lost his daughter to cancer. Her name is Dream. As I’m sure many of you have been personally affected by it, I have also experienced losing a loved one to cancer. My mom passed when I was 7 from lung cancer and so I can only imagine what this sweet dad has been going through.
Dream was described to me as a “warrior”, someone who loved to dance and smile, and whose favorite colors were pink and teal. I decided to paint bamboo, which represents strength and resilience. I hope it serves as a reminder to her loved ones that not only was Dream strong, but so are they.
It was truly an honor and a pleasure to create this commemorative piece. Here’s to you Dream. You are loved and missed by many.
