I was asked by a sweet friend to paint a specific corner of Washington Square Park here in Philadelphia for a loved one. This was actually my first commission for a non-botanical watercolor print, and so of course, I said “challenge accepted”. I then read on in the request and saw that my friend wanted an 11x15 size piece - one of the largest I’ve ever worked on. While it was definitely strange at first, I adjusted quickly and grew to enjoy working on such a large canvas. There’s a sense of freedom felt when working at such a large scale and I felt like I could dig into a lot of more detail because of the amount of space I had.

I thoroughly enjoyed working on this piece and I’m hoping to work on some more “out of my comfort zone” projects in the coming year!
